Feeling overwhelmed is common, but how do you stop being overwhelmed over everything?
We play pickleball every day with our lives, not to mention, when we miss the ball, we feel like failures.
it’s easy to feel like there’s simply too much to handle. However, it’s important to remember that feeling overwhelmed by everything in your life doesn’t have to be a permanent state of mind, you can manage it.
Simple practical strategies can help you regain control and find balance amidst the chaos and the noise.
Why Do We Get Overwhelmed?
The easy answer is that we are doing too much, and we may have “people pleasing” tendencies. But it can also be built into our DNA, unfortunately, some people are just high-strung.
Before we dive into the tips, let’s briefly explore why we get so overwhelmed.
In my own life, I believe it’s the constant stimulation the world provides us. Period. And we are just not equipped to handle all of this tasking that we do every day. It gets us uptight and overwhelmed.
Information overload leads to feelings of stress and anxiety. Additionally, trying to meet the expectations of others, we neglect our own needs, leading to a sense feeling overwhelmed. Understanding these factors can help us address them more effectively.
Let’s stop being overwhelmed by everything and take our lives back. Here is how we do it.
Prioritize Your Tasks
Take a step back and identify the most important tasks that need your immediate attention. Focus on completing these first before moving on to less urgent matters.
Break It Down
Break larger tasks into smaller, more manageable steps. This makes them feel less daunting and allows you to make progress incrementally. This helps with your psyche not making you feel like a failure.
Learn to Say No
Set boundaries, please. If you are stretched to the max, it’s okay to decline additional commitments. Saying no doesn’t make you selfish; you’re just protecting your time and energy.
Practice Mindfulness
Don’t you love it when people say, “now just breathe”, honestly this can make things worse. However, I do suggest adding mindfulness techniques into your daily routine to help calm your mind and reduce stress. Whether it’s through meditation, deep breathing, or simply taking a moment to appreciate the present. You “just breathe” without someone telling you too.
Delegate When Possible
Now, it is not necessary for you to do it all. Delegate tasks to others when appropriate, whether it’s at work or at home. Trusting others to help can lighten your load and free up valuable time.
Take Breaks
This one is hard, but for your mental health, take a break from it all, even if it’s just 5 minutes. Schedule regular breaks throughout your day to rest and recharge, it can help you return with renewed focus and energy.
And a better attitude. Am I right?
Limit Distractions
Identify and minimize distractions that hinder your productivity. Whether it’s turning off notifications on your phone or finding a quiet workspace, eliminating distractions can help you stay focused on the task at hand. If you are the distraction, go take a break.
Practice Self-Care
Make self-care a priority in your life. This includes getting enough sleep, eating nourishing foods, exercising regularly, and engaging in activities that bring you joy and relaxation.
Your body and mind will thank you.
Seek Support
Let your trusted family and friends know what’s going on. Maybe they can give you a different perspective on the situation. Don’t carry it alone, is what I’m saying. If you don’t have a support system, I wholeheartedly encourage you to build one.

These practical tips of how to stop being over overwhelmed can help you find the calm you need to balance out your life.
