From my own experience, as a child I just knew I wanted to change the world. I didn’t know how, but I was going to anyway. Head strong and determined I actually set out aimlessly to accomplish my unset goals.
Fast forward into adulthood, I’m not sure I’ve changed the world, but I do know the world has changed me. It seemed I let life happen to me, I found solace and peace in dreaming, and held on to my childhood limiting beliefs. I came to the realization that I could no longer just dream; I was worth the effort of pursuing my dreams.
Asking, ‘Why?’ is the key to everything. Questions always. Answer the why. –Vickie Gould
The Significance of My Why and it’s Roots
After my mom passed away in 2019, I sat alone many nights asking God why? Asking God so many why’s, He revealed so much to me. Information I was ready to receive and understand. I even found answers to why I did certain things in 1st grade and beyond.
I would ask myself, the hard questions, like why do I isolate myself away from others? The answer: So, I won’t get hurt. Another question I asked myself, why do I set higher expectations than I can currently reach? The answer: So, I don’t have to commit.
I was on a significant path to find and acknowledge to myself that in those questions of “why” I could find my strength. In asking the hard questions, I found a lot of where my anxiety lived and where my limiting beliefs lived.
The process was long and many days I cried over so many mistakes of the past. But, at the same time, I was freeing myself to enjoy a much better future. I was healing my soul and my heart.
