February 17th is National Random Acts of Kindness Day. What are planning to do? I’ve always enjoyed this day for many reasons. Mainly because, I reflect back on the kindness that I have received over the years from family and friends. This feeling of joy brings a calmness to my soul, that many things can’t. Try these 4 amazing acts of Kindness, they may just put a smile on your face and others.
I have found while we are busy trying to make other people happy and doing random acts of kindness for others, we forget ourselves.
So, in the spirit of National Random Acts of Kindness Day, here are 4 amazing acts of kindness to do for yourself and others.
1: Share the Gift of a Gratitude Journal
In our busy lives we sometimes forget what we are grateful for, and we just take things for granted. Our minds are so busy that if we write things down, it can free up space in our minds to let other things in.
According to Positive Psychology gratitude journaling, can relieve stress, bring out your creativity, begin to show you how your life is such a blessing and a gift to others and to yourself.
Your journal is for you and no one else. Write when you get up and write down your thoughts of the day before bed. Personally, I have found it to become a lifeline to my thoughts and feelings. I don’t know about you, but my mind never shuts off, so having the outlet to write, helps me in so many immeasurable ways.
We really don’t know what people are going through but gifting a gratitude journal and giving some words of encouragement, just maybe what someone needs at the very moment they receive your gift. You’re also saying to that person your thoughts matter, write them down for them to reflect on later.
Use gratitude journaling as life’s measuring stick for your life!
2: Offer to clean the living space for family and friends
This is a tremendous, small act of kindness, but an amazing one. Especially to a young mother, to your grandmother, to your BFF, anyone you love really. And don’t forget to clean for yourself! Add some flowers to your living space, bedroom, or kitchen.
Actually, physically showing this type of random act of kindness, really shows you love someone. Whistle while you work!
The act of cleaning and decluttering is a soul project, and it gives you instant gratification, with a hint of gratitude. This random act of kindness maybe taken for granted every day. But in fact, it would certainly make someone’s day!
3: Write an Encouraging note to Strangers
I absolutely love doing this, I do it all the time and leave them in the most random places. This is so fun!
My hopes are that the person who finds the note will be uplifted by just being surprised and feel supported and encouraged for the rest of day.
This random act of kindness will do more to uplift your soul and spirit. So, visit Dollar Tree and get some note cards and start writing encouraging words to strangers! Don’t forget to leave one for yourself.
4: Volunteer your Time
I know most of us don’t have the time to volunteer. Matter of fact, it can be hard to find the time. But I believe giving back to our community is one of the most important things we can do.
Find an organization you support. Let’s say you’re into the arts. Volunteer one day or however long you would like, to an art studio, teach a class. Volunteer your time to set production for the local community theater.
I’m not asking you to volunteer if it makes you feel overwhelmed. Volunteer when it feels right to you, so you can freely and kindly give your time to others.
When you volunteer, you are meeting new people and making new connections in areas that may have not been possible before. Just the opportunity alone, is an exciting one for yourself. If you are already volunteering and have been to an organization for a long time, be open to other organizations that may need your expertise.
Final Thoughts of Encouragement
As we celebrate National Random Acts of Kindness Day, share yourself with others, I have shared 4 amazing acts that just may change a life, and I want you to take in all the things you’re grateful for and give them to the world.
Let’s carry the warmth we’ve cultivated into the world. Every smile shared, every word of encouragement, and every small act of kindness contributes to a collective energy that has the power to transform lives, including our own.
Remember, kindness is not a one-time event; it’s a continuous journey. In weaving these acts into the fabric of our daily lives, we not only uplift others but also nurture a positive environment for ourselves. Embrace the joy that comes from making a difference, no matter how small, and cherish the connections formed through genuine acts of kindness.
As you go about your days, let kindness be your constant companion. Share it generously, receive it graciously, and watch as it blossoms into a force that transcends the ordinary, making the world a brighter, more compassionate place for us all.
May your days be filled with moments that inspire, uplift, and remind you of the incredible impact each of us can have through simple acts of love and compassion.
