I don’t know about you, but navigating a career to the level of success you want is like watching a compass going in every direction you can imagine and not knowing where to go next. So, I wanted to create a 10-day career challenge that’s actually worth doing. And in doing these tasks I hope you will have fun, grow personally and professionally, learn more about your co-workers, level up your communication skills, and much more. In fact, you just may find your “True North.”
Purpose of the challenge
Across the world people are getting ready for their workweek to begin and end. Some people can’t wait to start, and some people could just stay in bed all day. Nevertheless, it’s our purpose in life that gets us up and out of bed, it’s really that simple. Feeling like you have no purpose, well been there done that and the feeling of floundering is worse than actually learning a new path and charting a new course of action.
So, having a purpose and a goal for the day or even for 10 days, will jumpstart your career, give you a new attitude, and a new outlook on your career life. Let’s face it, some of us are just not that content in our worklife, nor are we excited to go to work. But we can be? And this is what I want this 10-day challenge to do for you, challenge you to either make a move towards what you want your career to be or energize you to appreciate the job you already have.
Most importantly, dream, have dreams, and take tiny baby steps to reach them every day, this is one encouraging comment I will give you.
Purpose in context for encouragement
Let’s look at purpose a bit closer in the context of just what it means and the feelings you get when you have purpose. I certainly can tell you what it’s not, dread. When you experience purpose in your life, you don’t dread anything. Purpose is peaceful, a little chaotic with a blend of excitement when you’re planning something, and actually having purpose in our lives is healthy for us! Purpose fills our soul, no question about it.
Merriam-Webster defines purpose used as a noun as, ” something set up as an object or end to be attained.” including the words, intention, resolution, and determination.
If you think or feel you have nothing to contribute, you are wrong, so wrong. The world needs everyone’s contribution. In fact, reprogram that thought if it’s lingering in your mind. You matter and you have purpose.
According to greatergood.berkely.edu “having purpose staves off stress and can help you channel challenges toward learning and growth. Purpose fuels hope and optimism, and purposeful people tend to have better health and longevity.”
How the 10-day career challenge works
First, make an intention and commitment to yourself and your worklife. Say to yourself, “for the next 10-days I am going to challenge myself to grow and level up my life and career.” If you don’t set the intention, there is no commitment, with no commitment, there is no change.
Second, in this exclusive blog series, we’ll be exploring a variety of topics (I’ll share them in this post), each carefully curated to guide you through a holistic career transformation, from self-reflection to celebrating your successes, we’re covering it all.
Third, look for a new post daily for the next 10-days. Building blocks towards transformation and hopefully a new way of thinking about your career, your coworkers, and yourself.
Day by day observation
Write your thoughts and emotions down. This challenge is too big to keep it all in your head. Each day these 3 topics are the source of change in this challenge.
- Self-Reflection: Take a moment to introspect, discover your strengths, and set the stage for an amazing journey. EVERY DAY.
- Goal Setting: Let’s turn dreams into actionable goals. It’s time to set the course for your future success.
- Skill Development: Embrace the power of continuous learning. Discover how acquiring new skills can open doors to new opportunities.
Why participate
This challenge isn’t just about reading; it’s about taking actionable steps toward your goals. Each day, you’ll find practical tips, personal stories, and thought-provoking prompts to guide you through the process.
Remember, this is not just another series; it’s a commitment to yourself and your career aspirations. You will begin to ask yourself new questions, you will feel differently about your current circumstances, you will take action in the areas of your career life, well that you’ve been wanting to change probably for years.
